Many people have an old longbow or recurve bow somewhere in their household or in a family member’s house. Maybe it was passed down from a grandparent or parent and now it’s buried in a closet or stored away somewhere. Maybe you’ve seen it and have an interest in learning how to shoot it, but just don’t really know where to begin. “Traditional Treasures” is a virtual program for those folks that might have a new interest in shooting a longbow or recurve bow, like the ones used before the compound bow was invented. Or maybe you have a renewed interest in an activity you participated in when you were first introduced to archery years ago. This program is just a basic introduction into the wonderful world of traditional archery! What is a “traditional bow”? What are the most common kinds of traditional bows and what are the differences between them? What to look for to know that your bow is in good shooting condition. The basic parts of traditional bows, advantages and disadvantages of shooting traditional equipment, and what accessories are needed to shoot traditional equipment. Recommended age range for this program is 12 years old to adult. Traditional Treasures is a free virtual program, but advanced online registration is required here. Please provide a good email address when you register. Participants will receive an email with a WebEx link approximately 24 hours prior to the program, as well as a reminder email the day of the program. If the emails do not appear in their inbox, participants should check junk/spam folders.
